American Horror Story Fan

There is less than a week till season one of American Horror Story ends and I’m just getting around to writing about it. I didn’t know it would become my favorite show until I my head was spinning around as Violet tried to run out of the house. She was unsuccessful in her attempts, most bizarre to say the least and answering the question of why she hadn’t been to school in 16 days and why there are flies in the house. I think many viewers heads were spinning as she spun around wildly entering the same door continually every time she tried to exit.

American Horror Story is the book you cannot put down. You would read it all night if you weren’t afraid of the dark. I’ve tweeted that I wish it were a soap opera that I could tune into every day. I loved trying to figure who was dead or alive until I figured out the ways of the house early on. One can never be certain though.

At least AHS is a television series and not a two hour movie, or novel with a final page touched by the words The End. No painful restrictions if the show continues to keep its fan base. The only complaint might be it is a bit too racy. Because of this, it will lose some young paranormal fans whose parents would otherwise let them view a little horror. I’m not a prude, but the first episode was a bit over the top with scenes that were not necessary to the story line.

Kudos to the writers, cast and crew…and special mention to Jessica Lange. What an actress.

Ghost1

Ghost of Ring Lardner, Jr.

While there are many creative ways to end the Ghost of Octobers Past, we will end with Ring Lardner, Jr. If at all anyone should be a ghost, it should be Ring Lardner, Jr…haunting Hollywood for blacklisting him in 1947. It is haunting to us that for a period of time his creativity was suppressed in such a manner that he was fined and served in prison.

Ghost1

Ghost of Conrad Richter

As Ghosts of Octobers Past go, one is never finer than an author who has written ghost stories. Conrad Richter who died on October 30, 1968 was a classic pulp fiction author. Some of his stories were published in Ghost Stories.

Ghost1

Ghost of Duane Allman

Ghost of Octobers Past continues with an actual ghost. Duane Allman (of Allman brothers fame) who passed on October 29, 1971 at the age of 24 has been reported as keeping in contact with his brother Gregg.

Ghost1

Ghost of Porter Wagoner

Our Ghost of Octobers Past is Porter Wagoner who passed away on October 28, 2007. Porter Wagoner haunts country music and is remembered in song (Ghost Train and Porter Wagoner’s Grave) by Marty Stuart.

Ghost1

Ghost of James M. Cain

Ghosts of Octobers Past remembers author James M. Cain who passed away on October 27, 1977. He haunts Hollywood’s film noir classics of his hard-boiled novels.

Ghost1

Ghost of Tony Hillerman

Ghosts of Octobers Past honors author Tony Hillerman who passed October 26, 2008. Although no known sightings of the author himself, his honorable mention is for his characters, Leaphorn and Chee who by their own right are chasers of those who left behind ghosts.

Ghost of Vincent Price

For Ghosts of Octobers Past, we will share a tribute to Vincent Price who passed on October 25, 1993. Here is a tribute set to Michael Jackson’s Thriller (not Wednesday 13′s The Ghost of Vincent Price).

Visit WritelyApplied.com for a special tribute to Vincent Price featuring the work of Roger Corman and Edgar Allan Poe.

Ghost of Gene Roddenberry

Gene Roddenberry passed on October 24, 1991. Not certain of any official sightings but found the song Gene Roddenberry’s Ghost. He couldn’t be an alien, nothing says he can’t be a Ghost of Octobers Past.
